10th World Water Forum Moment to Strengthen Collaboration of Bali Tourism and Creative Economy Community

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy and Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno urged all Pentahelix components, including the tourism community, to enhance collaboration to safeguard Indonesia's tourism and creative economy activities.

He stated this after attending an event called "Nemuin Komunitas” or ‘Meet the Community", shortened to Netas at the Superlative Gallery in Bali on Saturday, 18 May 2024.

"This includes promoting the 10th World Water Forum, which is held from 18 to 25 May 2024 in Nusa Dua, Bali," stated Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno.

According to Sandiaga, the community plays a vital role in supervising and monitoring tourists' movements and behaviours. "We need to ensure that everyone joins hands. The government cannot work alone. That is why we need to have the Pentahelix collaboration," he stated.

Indonesian tourist development is primarily focused on quality and sustainability. So, it is not just about the number of tourists but also the  quality of the tourists, in terms of their length of stay and with a positive impact on the society, particularly in Bali.

“Particularly with regard to the economic aspect and the preservation of traditional practices, and adherence to Balinese taksu. We hope to deliver this together, in collaboration with the community," Sandiaga said.

Hotel occupancy

Meanwhile, the hotel occupancy rate in Nusa Dua, where the 2024 World Water Forum is being held, has reached 100%.

It was recorded that as of 18 May 2024, the hotel occupancy rate had surpassed 95%. This indicates that it is completely booked in the South Bali area.

Some 10th World Water Forum delegates even had to stay in hotels relatively far from the primary event venue.

“Thar’s why, we will ensure that future MICE activities won’t be focused only in South Bali but also in other parts of the island,” he said.

Adrian Zakhary, the pioneer of the Bali Community Non-Fungible Token (NFT), and Komang Agus Ruspawan, the chief editor of Tribun Bali, were also in attendance at the Netas event.

Meanwhile, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno was accompanied by the Ministry's Secretary, Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani, and the Head of the Communications Bureau, I Gusti Ayu Dewi Hendriyani. (Birkom Parekraf/TR/Elvira Inda Sari/SC/PR)
