Synergy Key to Successful Security Operation for Bali 10th World Water Forum


Ahead of the 10th World Water Forum on 18—25 May 2024, Indonesian National Police’s  (POLRI) Head of Public Relations Inspector General Sandi Nugroho emphasized the importance of synergy between the Indonesian National Army (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (POLRI), and relevant stakeholders in ensuring the security, safety, order, and smooth execution of the international event.

Therefore, all personnel of the POLRI Public Relations Task Force have been ordered to build good coordination and generate extensive publicity.

"POLRI, together with TNI and relevant stakeholders, are working together to ensure the success and safety of this event," said Inspector General Sandi Nugroho on Monday (May 6) while leading a roll call of thePolri Public Relations Task Force for the Puri Agung 2024 operation established to guard the 10th World Water Forum in Nusa Dua, Bali.

According to him, the Puri Agung Operation will commence  10 days prior to the 10th World Water Forum. It will involve 5,791 personnel, including 2,485 from the POLRI Headquarters, 2,706 from the Bali Regional Police, 300 from the East Java Regional Police, and 300 from the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police.

The Head of Public Relations stated similar to the previous G20, ASEAN, and AIS Forum Summits, this year’s event is a golden opportunity for Indonesia to showcase its tourism, particularly in Bali. Therefore, Polri and TNI members must work in synergistic manner to ensure the success of the event.

"Ten days before the 10th World Water Forum and expanded to East Java and West Nusa Tenggara regions," explained the Head of Public Relations.

Inspector General Sandi emphasized that the personnel involved in the PR Task Force of Puri Agung 2024 operation must ensure that their activities contribute positively to the security measures taken. Public campaigns should also be conducted by collaborating with various parties, including influencers, local and national media, and ambassadors from the event itself.

The Head of Public Relations emphasized that all aspects of security, service, and publicity should be carried out with a humane approach. Such approach is needed to support the function of public relations to realize a more widespread promotion of the 10th World Water Forum in Bali.

"Indonesia chosen as the host of the 10th World Water Forum is an important momentum to demonstrate the world our commitment and real contributions in the field of water resources," said Inspector General Sandi.

Similar statement was conveyed by Brigadier General Raden Slamet Santoso, Head of the Task Force for Escort, Route, Patrol, and Parking (Walrolakir), who assured that his team is ready to secure and escort the heads of state and delegates attending the 10th World Water Forum. He made this statement during a coordination meeting on the readiness for the Puri Agung 2024 operation.

"We have prepared various measures, including addressing potential traffic issues," he explained.

The security and escort personnel have undergone trainings to improve their skills and professionalism. Moreover, the personnel and patrol vehicles will soon be dispatched to Bali. Moreover, Commissioner General M. Fadil Imran, the Head of the Indonesian National Police Security Affairs Bureau, has also conducted inspections of the venues to be used for the event.

"The VVIP and VIP escort personnel, as well as the route guards and parking attendants, have already undergone training and will be assigned to deploy personnel and vehicles to Bali," said the Law Enforcement Directorate at the Traffic Directorate of the Indonesian National Police.

The 10th World Water Forum adopts the theme "Water for Shared Prosperity." This theme aligns with the global commitment to seek solutions for enhancing and managing sustainable water resources in the face of uncertain climate change.
