National Police Prepares Puri Agung Operation to Guarantee Security at 10th World Water Forum

The Indonesian Police (Polri) is preparing an operation codenamed Operation Puri Agung 2024 to secure the 10th World Water Forum in Bali on 18-25 May 2024. The operation is to be carried out from ten days prior the event and extended to cover East Java and West Nusa Tenggara areas.

It was stated by the Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the National Police's Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, Tuesday (30 April).

"The Head of Operation is National Police’s security maintenance agency (Baharkam) chief, and Deputy Head of Operation is Deputy Chief of Police for Bali. The National Police involved three regions (namely) Bali, NTB, and East Java in securing this activity," said Trunoyudo, who also acts as Head of the 2024 Puri Agung Operations Public Relations Task Force.

Apart from the security side, the National Police is also preparing various measures related to dissemination of information to support the public relations function so that the 10th World Water Forum in Bali will reach a wider audience. The National Police has done and will continue to do various measures in its public relations function, such as organising talk shows and creating and disseminating narratives and contents, especially for social media.

The security, comfort, and international success factors will have a broad impact on indicating Indonesia's ability to lead international meetings and find solutions to world problems.

"This is, of course, the Chief of Police's commitment to make and support this event a success, and we have taken steps with relevant stakeholders. It is an international belief. Of course, it is a matter of pride for the Indonesian people to have the principle of water as a goal for prosperity for the world, especially Indonesia," he said.

Indonesia is the third country in Asia after Japan and South Korea to be selected as host for the World Water Forum. The forum will present three main processes: thematic, regional, and political, as well as six sub-themes, in line with the results of discussions at the World Water Conference in New York in 2023.
