Bali Regional Police Gears Up to Secure 10th World Water Forum Delegate Field Trip

The Bali Regional Police are making arrangements to provide escorts and security for delegates during their field excursion on the 10th World Water Forum. The forum is slated to be held on 18—25 May 2024.

Head of Public Relations for the Bali Regional Police, Senior Commissioner of Police Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, stated in Denpasar on Wednesday, 8 May 2024, that the delegates will visit several locations, including Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK), Bali Turtle Island Development (BTID), Ngurah Rai Mangrove Forest Park, Kuta Tsunami Shelter, and Subak Tabanan Museum.

In addition, the delegates will pay visit to several other notable tourist destinations, including the Jatiluwih UNESCO World Heritage Site of Tabanan, Lake Beratan Bedugul Temple situated in Tabanan Regency, Lake Batur Kintamani in Bangli, and Ubud Cultural Village in Gianyar.

We plan security starting from the locations visited and securing the routes to be taken," he said.

Jansen stated that the Bali Regional Police are prepared to provide security for the 10th World Water Forum meeting, centered at the Indonesian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) of Nusa Dua, Bali.

Jansen explained that the Bali Regional Police had started preparations on all aspects well in advance, including disseminating public security and order messages to the community, community leaders, and religious leaders through the Bali Regional Police's Community Development Unit.

In this regard, the Bali Regional Police urges all members of society to help make the 10th World Water Forum a success by actively maintaining the security of their respective environments, ensuring that Bali tourism remains safe.

The Bali Regional Police also regularly updates on developments in the security and public order situation and collaborates with the National Police Headquarters, Udayana Military Regional Command/IX, and the Bali Provincial Government to improve synergy in routine tasks as well as in the context of securing the World Water Forum.

To assist personnel on the ground, Jansen stated that the Bali Police maintain two command centers at the ITDC Nusa Dua and the Bali Police Headquarters, both equipped with advanced technology and staffed with trained and skilled operators.

The Bali Police Command Center has over 1,700 CCTV points installed in strategic locations throughout Bali, including the tourist areas of Nusa Dua, Kuta, Sanur, Ubud, Jatiluwih, Kintamani, and Bedugul, as well as several points at Bali's entrances, including Ngurah Rai Airport, Gilimanuk Harbor, Benoa Harbor, Padangbai Harbor, and Celukan Bawang Harbor.

Surveillance cameras are also deployed at inter-provincial terminals, protocol roadways, city areas, and other public sites considered prone to public security and order disruptions.

"All CCTVs will be connected directly to the monitor screens in the Bali Police Command Center room," he stated.

The Bali Regional Police currently has surveillance cameras with various cutting-edge features for managing police operations that are linked to essential information applications, like weather and natural disaster data, traffic flow monitoring, tools for counting passing cars and spotting crowds, and the ability to detect vehicle number plates, which is directly integrated with the National Police Traffic Corps database.

The surveillance camera also includes a facial recognition detection tool that is directly integrated with the Population and Civil Registration Department and Indonesian Police’s Center for Automatic Fingerprint Identification System databases, including red notices for both foreigners and Indonesian citizens, terrorist and recidivist data, GPS monitoring of patrol and escort alerts, and drone monitoring at the 10th World Water Forum implementation site.

This surveillance camera display, connected to the Bali Police Command Center, will be used by operators and operations control leaders to monitor and control security in the dynamics of field operations (Rolandus Nampu, Didik Kusbiantor/TR/Elvira Inda Sari/SC/PR).
