Bali Regional Police Connects 1,214 CCTV Cameras for 10TH World Water Forum Security Arrangement
The Bali Regional Police have started installing and connecting 1,214
surveillance cameras, known as Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV), at various
vital points for the security of the 10th World
Water Forum in Bali from 18 to 25 May 2024.
Commissioner of Police Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, Head of Public Relations
at the Bali Regional Police, stated in Denpasar, Bali, on Wednesday (May 1)
that the thousands of surveillance cameras have already been connected to the
ITDC Nusa Dua Command Center and the Bali Regional Police Command Center.
The surveillance cameras are deployed include 103 points in district
police stations, 123 existing cameras in the Bali Regional Police, 28 cameras
at the BNDCC, 16 points at the Benoa Port, 53 points along the VIP guest routes,
96 points at the entry gates to Bali, 586 points in the Badung Regency, 142
points at the ITDC Nusa Dua, 59 points on the Bali Mandara Toll Road, and 8
points at the Westin hotel. The cameras are equipped with facial recognition
features.
Jansen stated that the Bali Regional Police are prepared to secure and
ensure the success of the World Water Forum 2024, an international event
expected to have a positive impact on Bali's tourism sector.
He mentioned that the Bali Regional Police have prepared specific
security strategies for the event, launching a Police Operation codenamed
"Ops Tribrata Agung 2024" for 10 days, from 17 to May 27, 2024.
"We continue to coordinate and report the security situation in Bali
to the Indonesian National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri) and collaborate
with the Udayana Regional Military Command (Kodam/IX Udayana) and the Bali
Provincial Government in maintaining security," said Jansen.
The Bali Regional Police will also deploy full force in securing the
World Water Forum, including personnel reinforcements from the Indonesian
National Police Headquarters and nearby regional police units such as East Java
Regional Police and West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police, totaling approximately
5,791 personnel. Additionally, there will be involvement from the Indonesian
National Defense Forces (TNI) and other relevant institutions.
Currently, the Bali Regional Police regularly conduct socialization,
appeals, and public messages on security to encourage support and ensure the
success of the upcoming World Water Forum by maintaining a secure environment
within their respective communities.
"We hope that all walks of society, especially in Bali, will support
and make the 10th World
Water Forum a success, which will undoubtedly have a positive impact on Bali's
tourism sector," concluded Jansen.
Under the theme "Water for Shared Prosperity," the 10th World Water Forum will
feature 290 parallel sessions addressing crucial water-related themes,
including water security and prosperity, water for humans and nature, disaster
risk reduction and management, water governance, cooperation, and diplomacy,
sustainable water financing, as well as knowledge and innovation.
It is estimated that around 30,000 participants from 172 countries,
including several heads of state, will attend the forum.
The forum is expected to generate new solutions and commitments to
