Balinese Penjor Welcomes 10th World Water Forum Guests in Bali

Penjor, traditional Balinese decorations made of bamboo and coconut leaves, adorn and beautify the venues of the 10^th World Water Forum, scheduled to take place from 18 to 25 May 2024 in Bali.

Four penjors were installed in front of the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) gate on Saturday (18 May) to welcome the 10^th World Water Forum guests.

The decorations are installed in multiple locations, including I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali and several venues of the World Water Forum side events. These venues include Surf Surf by the Wave Beach, where the Balinese Water Purification Ceremony, known as Melukat, was held, the Kura Kura Bali area, and the mangrove area of Ngurah Rai Grand Forest Park (Tahura). The decorations also added a festive touch to the Fair and Expo location at BNDCC, Bali Collection, and Kuta Beach.

The exhibition at BNDCC will feature 21 country and 126 organization pavilions. Additionally, the Tsunami Shelter in Kuta will feature 70 pavilions, and the Bali Collection Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises will have 51 pavilions.

The Denpasar City Government began installing 310 decorative penjors on 17 May to welcome the 10^th World Water Forum.

“The Denpasar City Government was requested to install penjors from the exit of the Bali Mandara-Benoa Toll Road heading west to the event area at Tahura Ngurah Rai in Denpasar,” said the Head of the Denpasar City Tourism Agency, Ni Luh Putu Riyastiti. (Fajri InfoPublik/TR/Elvira Inda Sari/WW/PR)
