Public Works and Public Housing Minister Requests Smooth Running of 10th World Water Forum

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (MPWH), Basuki Hadimuljono, gathered several relevant ministries and agencies to ensure the smooth and unhindered preparations and agenda of the largest water forum in the world, the 10th  World Water Forum.

Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ministry of Home Affairs; Ministry of Environment and Forestry; Ministry of National Development Planning; Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG); National Disaster Management Agency; Network of Asian River Basin Organization (Narbo); and Youth were present at the meeting.

"A week ahead of the 10th  World Water Forum, let's ensure that all preparations are well-controlled, and Indonesia is ready to welcome this grand event," said Basuki during the Coordination Meeting held at the MPWH office in Jakarta on Friday (10 May).

During the meeting, the Minister of MPWH also revealed that he had met with the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, to ensure the readiness of the  opening ceremony for the forum which will take place from 18–25 May 2024.

Both agreed that all preparations have been carried out as best as possible because the forum provides an opportunity for Indonesia to strengthen its role at the regional and global levels in mitigating issues related to water management.

The theme of the 10th World Water Forum is "Water for Shared Prosperity," with sub-themes including Water Resilience and Well-being, Water for Humans and Nature, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, Water Governance, Cooperation and Hydro-diplomacy, Sustainable Water Financing, and Knowledge and Innovation.
