MCI Assures Reliable Communication Service Quality at 10th World Water Forum

The Ministry of Communications and Informatics (MCI) confirmed that they will prepare measurements of the Quality of Service (QoS) for telecommunication to maintain reliable connectivity during the 10th World Water Forum in Bali.

The QoS measurement will take place at the forum venues, the Bali International Convention Center (BICC), and various other locations scheduled to be visited by forum participants.

“Telecommunications Quality of service measurements will be conducted using specialized devices at the venue and surrounding areas prior to the event. The measurements will be carried out in the first week of May 2024,” said MCI’s Director General of Posts and Informatics Operations (PPI), Wayan Toni Supriyanto, on Tuesday (30 April 2024) in Jakarta.

According to Wayan, MCI has also coordinated with the organizing committee to identify locations with suboptimal service quality. This was carried out to maintain seamless and reliable telecommunications networks.

After identifying areas with suboptimal coverage, the PPI Directorate General will request mobile operators in those areas to optimize their networks to improve the telecommunications services provided.

“Coordination and official correspondence have been made with mobile operators, namely PT Telekomunikasi Selular, PT Indosat Tbk., PT XL Axiata Tbk., PT Smart Telecom, and PT Telkom, to maintain the quality of their services at an optimal level at the venue and surrounding areas during the event,” said Wayan.

Wayan is optimistic that these providers will take all necessary measures to optimize their existing networks and are committed to maintaining the quality of their services to ensure the success of this international event.

The 10th World Water Forum, held in Bali from 18—25 May 2024, will feature the theme “Water for Shared Prosperity.”

The forum will host 290 sessions or parallel events discussing various critical water-related themes, such as water security and prosperity, water for people and nature, disaster risk reduction and management, water governance, cooperation, and diplomacy, sustainable water financing, as well as knowledge and innovation.

An estimated 30,000 participants from 172 countries, including several heads of state, are expected to attend the forum.

The forum is expected to yield new solutions and commitments for sustainable and equitable water management. (Livia Kristiatnti, Siti Zulaika/TR/Elvira Inda Sari/WW/PR).
