Bali Provincial Govt Prepares 5 Selected Tourist Attractions

for the 10th World Water Forum Delegations

The Bali Provincial Tourism Office has prepared several tourist attractions for delegates to visit during the 10th World Water Forum slated to be held from 18 to 25 May. As of now, five locations have been selected with two types of field trips.

"There are two new field trips on the national committee program. There is a visit to the Subak Museum, and of course, melukat or purification activities as proposed by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy. I am tasked to make the arrangement," said Bali Tourism Office head Tjok Bagus Pemayun in Denpasar, on Friday, 26 April.

Tjok Pemayun checked the readiness of three melukat locations, namely Tirta Empul Temple in Tampaksiring, Penglukatan Mumbul in Abiansemal, and Penglukatan in Jatiluwih Tabanan.

"Delegates departing from Nusa Dua to Jatiluwih have two options: one group will visit Mumbul Abiansemal, and the other will go to Jatiluwih. Today, I am scheduled to check the melukat locations other than Tirta Empul," he said.

The second type of field trip prepared is a museum visit. The Bali Tourism Office had also prepared the Subak Museum in the Padang Galak Beach and Mertasari Beach areas, where access to both sites is easy and close as they are still located in Denpasar City.

The museum is also located near Campuhan Beach, a beach that connects freshwater with seawater, making it suitable for the agenda of the World Water Forum.

The five locations prepared can accommodate an average of 100 people with 20 bus units, so currently, the provincial government continues to coordinate with the management of these sites to ensure the effectiveness of the delegates there.

Even though we do not yet know the schedule for the 10th World Water Forum delegation's field trip, this visit will certainly be carried out in the middle of the busy agenda of the 10th World Water Forum delegations.

"We are arranging this field trip and I suggest first come first serve. Those who register earliest get served, so the capacity won't exceed. We will inform what is allowed to do and what is not as well as items to bring because not everyone can and wants to join," said Tjok Pemayun.

VVIP Delegates Exempted from Tourist Levy

The 10th World Water Forum VVIP delegates will be exempted from foreign tourist levy.

"There are several delegates who are exempted, even if they submit several names, we will verify them first," said Tjok Pemayun.

Since 14 February, the Bali government has implemented Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 6 of 2023 on Foreign Tourists Levy for the Conservation of Bali's Culture and Nature.

Under the regulation, foreign tourists are subject to Rp150,000 (around US$9.25) for every visit to Bali. This policy also applies to delegates of the 10th World Water Forum.

"The committee will also announce which delegations are VVIPs, so the rest (of the delegates) from the 193 countries must pay," said Tjok Pemayun.

The Bali Provincial Government and related agencies in the region are gearing up to prepare field trip facilities and meeting points.

This includes carrying out the distribution of tasks for installing ‘penjor’ or bamboo wrapped in coconut leaves along the route that tens of thousands of delegates will pass as a form of welcome.

"For several tasks, such as installing Penjor, we collaborate (with other parties), like penjor along the airport route which is the responsibility of the airport authority, some by the Badung Regional Government, Jasamarga Toll, ITDC, Denpasar City Government, The Meru, and Serangan Island," he said.

The 10th World Water Forum will take place from 18—25 May carrying the theme “Water for Shared Prosperity”. This event is scheduled to be attended by delegates from around 193 countries worldwide. (Ni Putu Putri Muliantari/Biqwanto/TR/Elvira Inda Sari/ug/flw)
