Indonesia Prepares Various Side Events for 10th World Water Forum

The Indonesian government will present various side events and art and cultural exhibitions at the 10th World Water Forum, which will take place on 18-25 May 2024 in Nusa Dua, Bali. Delegates and participants, apart from being involved in the main forum, are also expected to experience the atmosphere of Bali.

It was stated by the Deputy Chair of the Secretariat of the 10th World Water Forum National Committee, also the Public Works and Public Housing Minister's Expert Staff for Technological, Industrial, and Environmental Affairs, Endra S. Atmawidjaja, Tuesday (7/5/2024) in Jakarta.

For this reason, Endra emphasized that the world's largest water forum, taking place in Indonesia for the first time, involved many stakeholders. Therefore, the government prepares the implementation carefully. It covers the main forum and events outside it, such as fairs and expos, and the variety of arts and culture displayed.

“It is an honor for Indonesia to host the 10th World Water Forum. "We want the attending participants not only to participate in the main forum but also to experience the different atmosphere of Bali," he said.

As the host, Indonesia has prepared 280 sessions at the 10th World Water Forum, including 55 side events and ten special sessions. The series of events will open with the Balinese Water Purification Ceremony, which is a typical Balinese traditional ritual with the concept of the Rahina Tumpek Uye activity and the Segara Kerthi Ceremony.

Meanwhile, separately, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno, who is also the Head of Division V—Fair and Expo of the 10th World Water Forum, revealed that the primary support that the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry will provide is to facilitate delegates to experience the Melukat procession. Melukat is a cultural process that has spiritual meaning for the Balinese people. This procession will later involve the local government.

The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry will also participate in the Indonesia Pavilion by providing tourism content with virtual reality (VR), selling low-carbon tour packages, establishing a series of Fairs and Expos, providing Wonderful Indonesia souvenirs and goodie bags, presenting content and activating the game, namely "Lokapala", and exhibiting and selling selected and quality MSME products through planograms.

The opening of the Fair and Expo will be on 20 May 2024 at the Nusa Dua Hall BNDCC. The locations will spread across the BNDCC area, Baruna Disaster Shelter in Kuta, and Bali Collection in Nusa Dua.

After the series of activities are completed, participants will also be invited on a field trip to enjoy the beautiful places of Bali, such as the Water Museum in Tabanan, Jatiluwih UNESCO World Heritage Site, Lake Batur Kintamani, and Ubud Cultural Village. (Firda Puri/TR/Elvira Inda Sari/EL/PR)
