Indonesia’s Hospitality and Cultural Wealth

Ready to Welcome Participants of the 10th World Water Forum

Indonesia once again has been entrusted to host an international event, namely the 10th World Water Forum. Just like in previous global events where Indonesia was chosen as the host, infrastructure readiness, hospitality, and cultural richness are expected to captivate visitors from other countries.

This was emphasized by the Secretary of the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg) Setya Utama while inspecting the preparations for the Leaders’ Visit in the Tahura Mangrove Forest Area of Bali on Thursday (25 April 2024).

In the upcoming forum to be held in Bali on May 18-25, Indonesia not only aims to demonstrate its readiness as a host but also its cultural wealth related to nature and water.

“Indonesia certainly wants to showcase the success of hospitality in hosting the 10th World Water Forum. Equally important, Indonesia wants to showcase the magnificence of Indonesian culture, which sends a message to the world, especially culture related to nature and water,” said Setya Utama.

Setya also revealed several aspects he inspected during his visit, first being the supporting infrastructure, ranging from venues to accommodations that must meet international standards and be environmentally friendly. Second, the framework for cooperation among government institutions, the private sector, and civil society organizations. He also mentioned that the government encourages the involvement of students and universities to ensure the success of the event. “Then the third preparation, related to the multi-sectoral and inclusive approach, is continually being enhanced to produce comprehensive and sustainable policies and action plans,” he added.

As the forum's leader, Indonesia is ready to introduce innovations that have been and will be implemented in water management, such as the use of technology for water efficiency in various sectors, including agriculture, industry, river basin management, and strategies for adaptation and mitigation of hydrometeorological disasters.

During the visit, the Ministry of State Secretariat invited representatives from ministries/agencies to ensure various preparations for the 10th World Water Forum on April 25-26, 2024. The visit focused on refining the registration process, zoning, vehicle movement, health, and media aspects.

At the same time, the Special Advisor for Water Resources to the Minister of Public Works and Housing, Firdaus Ali, stated that they are continuously ensuring the detailed preparations ahead of the 10th World Water Forum.

“We are striving to ensure supporting facilities such as logistics, consumption, security, including health,” said Firdaus.

During the visit, the entourage inspected the facilities and infrastructure to support activities, including the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park, Bali International Convention Centre (BICC), and the Ngurah Rai Mangrove Forest Conservation and Rehabilitation Area.

The Ngurah Rai Mangrove Forest Rehabilitation and Conservation Area is the location for the Leaders’ Visit of the 10th World Water Forum. This area implements the Bali teaching principle of Tri Hita Karana, which emphasizes the balance of relationships between God, humans, and the environment.

Previously, the G20 Summit in Indonesia designated the Bali Mangrove Forest Area as the location for mangrove planting by the President and G20 Leaders. The government will continue this mangrove planting initiative at the peak event of the 10th World Water Forum. (Firda Puri/TR/Elvira Inda Sari).
