“Bali Street Carnival” Introduces Balinese Culture at 10th World Water Forum

The 10th World Water Forum, held in Bali from 18—25 May 2024, also serves as an opportunity to promote the richness of Indonesia's culture, tourism, and creative economy.

Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy and Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, made this statement during the opening of the "Bali Street Carnival," a side event of the 10th "World Water Forum," on Monday, 20 May 2024, at the Bali Collection Shopping Mall in Nusa Dua, Bali.

“We are collaborating with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing and the Bali Provincial Government, at the President's direction, to help participants in this World Water Forum better understand Balinese culture,” stated Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga.

“The World Water Forum Bali Street Carnival is a cultural parade showcasing a range of Balinese arts under the theme ‘Samudra Cipta Peradaban,’ which means 'Ocean Creates Civilization,' symbolizing the sea as a fundamental wellspring of universal prosperity, and a cradle of civilization.

Approximately 1,200 artists from the following six art studios were involved in the parade: Bungan Dedari Art Studio, Gianyar Paripurna Art Studio, Pancer Langit Art Studio, Kokar Bali Art Studio, Gumi Art Studio, and Gita Mahardika Studio.

"Before this, the delegates were treated to the Segara Kerthi ceremony at Bali Water Purification, which received an outstanding response from all. The performers truly exhibited the diversity of Balinese culture and the creative economy of Indonesia," Sandiaga remarked.

Basuki Hadimuljono, the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, also conveyed his gratitude and appreciation to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Bali Provincial Government, and the community for their support in enlivening the 2024 World Water Forum.

"With a total attendance of 46,000, this event has surpassed all previous World Water Forums; the President of the World Water Council stated that this is the best in the thirty-year history of the forum. This elevates the future benchmarks for the World Water Forum," Basuki stated.

Laksana Tri Handoko, the head of the National Research and Innovation Agency, and Dewa Made Indra, the regional secretary of Bali Province, were also present at the event. (Birkom Parekraf/TR/Elvira Inda Sari/SC/PR)
